Africa Direct
The Rwandan war was a human catastrophe that should never have happened. Thousands were slaughtered in a frenzy of violence between Hutus and Tutsis that followed the assassination of Rwandan President Juvenal Habyarimana on 6 April 1994. For weeks the world's TV screens showed horrific scenes of bodies piled high. When the more dramatic violence subsided, the mass exodus of refugees across Rwanda's borders meant there was no end to the deaths. |

Ancient Africa A Great Oral Tradition
The European colonial powers called Africa “the Dark Continent” when they began their explorations. They saw it as a vast and dangerous place filled with savage people, but Africa has been home to many advanced, exotic civilizations. Many have been buried beneath the sands of time, but we know of others, and archaeologists continue to uncover more clues about ancient African civilizations. |

Internet African History Sourcebook
Africa is both the most clearly defined of continents - in its geography - and the hardest to pin down in historical terms. Human beings originated in Africa and, as a result, there is more diversity of human types and societies than anywhere else. It is not possible, in any non-ideological way, to claim any one of these peoples or societies as more essentially "African" than others; nor is it possible to exclude a given society as "not really African". |

Wer war Marcus Garvey?
Marcus Garvey's "Back to Africa" movement developed the spirit of Ethiopianism to its fullest extent. ...since the white people have seen their God through white spectacles, we have only now started out (late though it be) to see our God through our own spectacles. The God of Isaac and the God of Jacob let him exist for the race that believe in the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. We Negroes believe in the God of Ethiopia, the everlasting God -- God the Son, God the Holy Ghost, |
